eBay is bracing itself for ‘Beast from the east’ delays, warns ParcelCompare
The delivery expert ParcelCompare is warning online shoppers eBay is gearing up for the impact of late deliveries as snow hits many parts of the UK.

The ‘Beast from the east’ weather front has left many UK roads blocked with snow and created hazardous driving conditions across much of the country. The parcel price comparison site ParcelCompare says that a sure sign snow will be delaying parcels is that eBay is taking the very rare step of removing customer complaints of delayed deliveries from trader’s feedback over the next few days: providing the delay was caused by the extreme weather.

Says David: ‘Shoppers are rightly quick to complain of slow deliveries, and these complaints are often reflected in eBay feedback and seller ratings. However, in times of serious weather conditions eBay will take this into account. In a way it’s the most accurate bellwether of how bad weather conditions really are!’

Explains David: ‘eBay has told traders it will remove feedback and detailed seller rating currently “if sellers feel they’ve been unduly affected by the adverse weather and have supporting evidence.”

The online sales platform is actively monitoring Detailed Seller Ratings and has told eBay traders it is taking corrective action in cases where there’s an abnormal increase in low Dispatch Time ratings across all impacted sellers.

Says David: ‘In effect this is eBay going to Defcon 1 for deliveries. Shoppers may have to be patient over the next couple of days while couriers battle some extreme conditions.’
